Over the years I’ve seena lot of very bad gym etiquette, people chatting and laughing on their phones, bad language, people wearing jeans,
some seriously bad body hygiene, the list is endless. The gym environment is so much a betterplace when everyone conforms to the rules and regulations ofthe facility.

Some ofthe below seemlike commonsense, however commonsense at times, isn’t that common!

- Never leave any piece of gym equipment covered in sweat, towel it downand leave the equipment as you would like to find it.

- Do not hang around the gym in a group, many people can find this intimidating.

- Never use bad, foul or inappropriate language, respect people around you.

- Do not sit on a piece of equipment if you are not using it

- If you are using a certain piece of equipment,do not chat or take a great deal of time between sets if there are people waiting to use the same piece of
equipment.

- Do not stare at people exercising, it is considered rude.

- If someone leaves a piece of equipment, check to see if theyare finished using it before you jump in for yourself. They may be getting some water or a paper towel and have not finished using the equipment.

- If you wish to ‘workin’ when someone is using a piece of equipment, ask politely and show respect to the other person. Never bully anyone out oftheir
exercise.

- Never interrupt anyone whilst they are exercising, wait until they have finished their set and then ask your question.

- Do not stand too close to people when they are exercising, this can be an inconvenience and can distract people during there workout.

-Do not leave your weight plates or dumbbells lying around, put them away when you are finished using them. If you are using the bench press or
a Smith machine, clear the plates when you have finished using them, don’t be lazy.

- Do not use your mobile phone in the gym, especially when you are using a piece of equipment, no one wants to hear your conversation.

- Dress appropriately. Never wear jeans or clothing not suitable for exercising.

- Make sure your personal hygiene is maintained. People sometimes take their shoes off not aware that theyare ‘stinking’ and inconveniencing other exercisers. Always workout in fresh training gear, if you are wearing the training from your workout previous, it will smell poor!! Use deodarant before
you workout.

- If you seesomeone training intenselyand they may need help, ask them if you to ‘spot them’. When we are pushing ourselves inthe gym a little is sometimes required and it respect and good manners to others.

- Show respect to fellow exerciser sand dowhat you can to ensure a gym environment that is safe and pleasant for all.
